    Emergency School Closings
    and Delayed Openings

A school closing or delayed opening is normally decided upon between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. after consultation with other area superintendents, communication with the police, a survey of road conditions and the weather forecast. When a delayed opening is announced, school begins at 10 a.m. for all children. Any before school activity is cancelled. Children report directly at 10 a.m. to their homerooms. There will be lunch and dismissal at the normal times.

In the event that an emergency requires the closing of school during the school day when students are already in school, the school office must have the emergency number(s) (cell phones) of the adults who will be responsible for the child in an emergency. Your child should know what to do in case you are not at home following an emergency dismissal.
You will be notified through at least one of the following ways in the event of an emergency:

    Reverse 911
The Spring Lake Borough Reverse 911 System is now in operation. In the event of bad weather, school closings, delayed openings, or building emergency, you will be notified by this system.  The system will automatically call your home and cell phone numbers.
