  • Summer Update #6!

Posted by Dr. Raymond J. Boccuti on 8/30/2018

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

You have already been informed that, following an extensive interview process, I transferred our former paraprofessional, Ms. Clark, and our former middle school mathematics teacher, Mr. Livingood, to special education teacher positions and I am very excited about what they both bring to their respective new positions in the very best interests of our students with special needs.

After concluding a follow up extensive interview process, I was very pleased to recommend and secure Board of Education approval of our new middle school mathematics teacher and it is my pleasure to introduce Mr. Steven Janelli.

Mr. Janelli comes to us with experience in New York and New Jersey.  He holds a Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College and a Master's degree in Special Education from City College of New York providing him with five certifications:  1. Childhood Education (NY), 2. Students with Disabilities (NY), 3. Childhood Education with Advanced Standing (NJ), 4. Students with Disabilities (NJ), and 5. Mathematics Middle School (NJ). Mr. Janelli will be a marvelous addition to our talented staff.

I just received great news from his current school district that they will release Mr. Janelli just in time for him to join us for the start of our school year.  I genuinely look forward to you meeting him on September 6th and I ask you to join me in welcoming Mr. Janelli to our outstanding school district.

  • Summer Update #2!

Posted by Dr. Raymond J. Boccuti on 8/6/2018

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am pleased to provide you with another summer staffing update.  Following an extensive interview process that included impressive internal and external candidates, and pending Board of Education approval, please be informed I am recommending our middle school mathematics teacher, Mr. John Livingood, and our paraprofessional, Ms. Kelly Clark, for our two special education position vacancies.

In smaller, high performing school districts, position vacancies are not frequent and the ability to fill those positions with internal candidates is even less frequent.  Therefore, it is always nice for the organization when internal candidates come to the top of a fair and rigorous interview process.

While we now proceed with the process to fill their former positions, I ask you to join me in congratulating Mr. Livingood and Ms. Clark as they assume their new positions with our outstanding staff.

  • Summer Update!

Posted by Dr. Raymond J. Boccuti on 7/15/2018

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this communication finds you enjoying a wonderful summer with your families.

As charged by our Strategic Plan, I was working with our outstanding staff on increasing our communication endeavors with all stakeholders as a component of our end of the school year professional development.  In that spirit, I thought you would appreciate a few information items.

Please join me in welcoming our new School Business Administrator and Board Secretary, Mrs. Denise McCarthy, C.P.A.  In an effort to save on administrative costs, Mrs. MrCarthy and her services will be shared with the Monmouth Beach School District.  She has served as an Assistant Business Administrator for 18 years in Point Pleasant, she brings a tremendous financial skill set to our school district, and we look forward to working with her on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting around mid August.

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Jeannine McDonald as our long term substitute Psychologist during Mrs. Parisi-Lee's maternity leave.  Following extensive experience as a primary teacher, Mrs. McDonald holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Saint Anselm College, and two Master of Arts degrees:  Educational Psychology and Clinical Psychology with a Child and Adolescent Focus, from Montclair State University. She will start with us as soon as the clearances process is completed and Ms. Domogala will keep parents informed of any changes in case manager responsibilities.

As we work through the summer, we look forward to our new educational programs and initiatives.  Examples include, but are not limited to, analyzing our student assessment data from our new iReady assessments transitioned from Scholastic Mathematics Inventory (SMI) and Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI), preparing to roll out our new English Language Arts "Wonders" Curriculum Program in grades K-5, and rolling out our new Frontline IEP Program.  These are major new initiatives to keep our school district on the cutting edge moving forward.

I look forward to sharing more information throughout the summer as we get excited about the 2018-2019 school year.

  • Today, May 4, 2018!

Posted by Dr. Raymond J. Boccuti on 5/4/2018

    Good evening Parents and Guardians,

You may have learned that St. Catharine's and Spring Lake Heights had lock downs earlier today and I am sending this communication to assure you our students, staff, visitors, and school were not in any danger at any time.

Spring Lake Borough Police Chief Edward Kerr called me from one of the two lock down sites to inform that the lock downs resulted from information received at one of those sites that turned out to be incorrect information.  As he always does, Chief Kerr called me to keep me well informed, assure me there was no danger, and to assure me I should proceed with a normal school day. However, as an added measure of assurance and security, he assigned Spring Lake Borough Police Detective Sergeant Chris Kuchinski to our school for the duration of the time period in question.

Once again, this communication is being sent to assure you I remained in ongoing communication with Chief Kerr, Detective Kuchinski was on site for an added measure of assurance and security, and our students, staff, visitors, and our school were never in harm's way.  Further, as we carefully practice in our ongoing safety and security drills, we were also prepared follow Chief Kerr's direction on a moment's notice if any action was needed.

Please continue to be confident the safety and security of your children is our paramount concern every day and I hope you and your families enjoy a beautiful Spring weekend.
