    Good evening Parents and Guardians,

You may have learned that St. Catharine's and Spring Lake Heights had lock downs earlier today and I am sending this communication to assure you our students, staff, visitors, and school were not in any danger at any time.

Spring Lake Borough Police Chief Edward Kerr called me from one of the two lock down sites to inform that the lock downs resulted from information received at one of those sites that turned out to be incorrect information.  As he always does, Chief Kerr called me to keep me well informed, assure me there was no danger, and to assure me I should proceed with a normal school day. However, as an added measure of assurance and security, he assigned Spring Lake Borough Police Detective Sergeant Chris Kuchinski to our school for the duration of the time period in question.

Once again, this communication is being sent to assure you I remained in ongoing communication with Chief Kerr, Detective Kuchinski was on site for an added measure of assurance and security, and our students, staff, visitors, and our school were never in harm's way.  Further, as we carefully practice in our ongoing safety and security drills, we were also prepared follow Chief Kerr's direction on a moment's notice if any action was needed.

Please continue to be confident the safety and security of your children is our paramount concern every day and I hope you and your families enjoy a beautiful Spring weekend.

  • School Closed!

Posted by Dr. Raymond J. Boccuti on 1/4/2018

The Spring Lake School District and its H.W. Mountz School will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 5th.  All afternoon and evening activities tomorrow are canceled.

In addition to the Governor’s declared state of emergency for multiple counties including Monmouth, closing state offices, and recommending people refrain from driving, we simply need more time to clear our property to ensure a safe return to school.

As presented on our Board of Education approved school calendar, tomorrow’s weather day will be made up on Monday, February 19th, Presidents Day, with a 12:40 PM dismissal time on that day for students.  Staff members will have an afternoon of professional development following student dismissal.

Thank you and please continue to be safe in the winter storm.
